I may not be a relationship expert but I certainly know how to put in the effort to make a relationship last. The proof? My husband and I recently celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary and we actually still like each other… a lot! Even after all of those years, we’re still best friends who choose to spend time with each other. To mark the anniversary of our two-decade union, we recently made a memorable journey through Western Canada together. Our trip began in Vancouver, where we spent a few sunny days exploring many of the tourist hotspots as well as some intimate nooks and crannies of the bustling city. We thoroughly enjoyed taking in the sights, sounds, and culinary delights of the bustling, multi-cultural city. However, the real highlight of our anniversary adventure was riding the scenic Rocky Mountaineer train to Banff, a cozy town nestled between the Rocky Mountains that neighbors a number of national parks and is home to boutiques, souvenir shops, restaurants, and château-style resorts.
As we took our seats and embarked on the incredible, scenic journey, we had the pleasure of meeting people from all corners of the globe. Each passenger we spoke with had a unique reason for being on that train, whether it was to celebrate a special anniversary, a birthday, or simply to check Rocky Mountaineer train ride off their bucket list. Despite our diverse backgrounds and motivations, there was an obvious common thread that united us all – the presence of a loved one. Every single person had chosen to make that two-day trip with someone they cherished, someone whose company they desired. This observation warmed our hearts and reminded us of what a true blessing it is to have someone to love, someone who loves us, and someone you want to experience life’s many adventures with.
While the long train ride itself was undeniably awe-inspiring with breathtaking landscapes unfolding before our eyes, what truly made everyone’s trip exceptional was the quality time spent with those we hold dear. The shared laughter, stories, and connections made along the way was an unexpected bonus that turned an already spectacular journey into an unforgettable celebration of love and togetherness.
Who makes your life’s adventures more exceptional? Cherish those individuals and put in the work to keep them in your life. They are true blessings.
